22 December 2016, drivers at Giap Bat bus station had an exciting working day as they had interactive activities with the largest tire company Bridgestone at the "Drive home safe with Bridgestone" sum up event.

Safe to be home from miles away

"Drive home safe with Bridgestone" is a road safety campaign which was implemented from Jun 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City. Main activities are about having high quality flashing sets glued in front, side and rear of the vehicle to increase visibility at night, helping the drivers have peace of mind on roads. In the last 6 months, Bridgestone flashing tapes have followed the drivers from Mekong region to Dak Lak, Da Nang and Hanoi.

Until now, Bridgestone has provided more than 8000 flashing sets which went beyond the original plan. The program also received very positive feedback from drivers, transportation corporations and nationwide dealers of Bridgestone.

Bridgestone is the first brand in Vietnam offering a large number of flashing sets across the country. Addressing the concern for driver’s safety, Bridgestone would share its company with the truck and bus drivers on each journey and take them home safety.

Get ready for the year end

Road safety has always been a serious social problem, especially at the end of the year. According to statistics of Traffic Bureau in 2015, 70% of trucks, buses often operate at night in dimly lit roads with limited visibility. Therefore, equipping the vehicle with flashing sets is a "small action, great impact" to improve traffic safety.

With foggy weather in the north at the end of the winter, together with increasing traffic flow, it becomes dangerous for drivers while driving in the steep or narrow road passes. Furthermore, in Tet season, the drivers usually work at night with more pressure to deliver the cargo on time, which creates more risks for their work.

Mr. Nguyen Le Anh, an experienced bus driver on north-south route, said: "I appreciate the Bridgestone’s concern for the safety of us drivers. Flashing set is simple but can make me more confident behind the wheel, especially during the Tet season, when we have to hurry up anytime because of the high transport demand. Like any driver, I want to finish my job well and go home safe.”

Excited with the results of the campaign, Ms. Duong An Giang – Senior General Manager of Bridgestone Vietnam shared: "In our 2017 plan, we are committed to continue this program and make “Drive home safe with Bridgestone” become an annual activity. There will be more vehicles, more drivers to participate into and make this program become to a reliable safety support, contributing to road safety of Vietnam. "

On the occasion of "Drive home safe with Bridgestone" summary event in 2016, Bridgestone  delivered five scholarships valued VND 25 million for excellent students whose fathers are drivers. The company hopes that these gifts can motivate the students in the coming year. There were also other recreational activities like safe driving knowledge sharing, helping the drivers be free from any trouble and performing their job at excellence.
