Green Hour was the pre-activities for Earth Day 2016 which Bridgestone Vietnam and UNESCO SECC organized to clean garbage dump and convey the meaningful message about environment protection, especially lake and river protection. With the message Bridgestone Vietnam chose for this year “Keep river and lake clean for a better life”, environment protection activities will focus on polluted rivers and lakes – where garbage is thrown here and it makes the environment around polluted
The canal at Alley 13, Bo Tay Street, Hamlet 3, Phuoc Loc Commune, Nha Be District was filled with garbage. It obstructed traffic and had bad effect on people lives, especially on wet season. Similarly, the pollution at Nhue River is always a social issue because of water pollution, such as raw sewage running into river, illegal dumping of substances or items… It causes the serious health problems of people around.
With Green Hour activities in 03/2016 and 04/2016, 400 volunters from UNESCO SECC, Bridgestone Vietnam staff, the youth of Phuoc Loc Commune as well as the youth of Van Phuc Ward collected garbage; propagated and gave biodegradable plastic bags for citizens. Bridgestone Vietnam also supported expense to make the granite board with the environment protection message there to raise the responsibility of protecting environment.
